Orthopnea

Orthopnea is shortness of breath. This is very dangerous situation in heart patients.

It is cardinal feature of the left ventricular failure. In this condition heart cannot pump efficiently. There for blood accumulate in the heart. Strock volume decrease and End Diastolic Volume increase. Then venous return back pressure increase and pulmonary circulation can't work properly. There for blood collect in the lung and edema and congestion occur. Normally lung can tolerate increase of blood volume in the lung. But in this case lung can't tolerate this blood increase. The pressure of capillary increase and air transfusion can't do efficiently. It is cause to Orthopnea.
